Email Settings

Every reward coupon is emailed as soon as it is created, using WordPress’s wp_mail(). The Email tab controls the sender and lets you edit the two most common templates.

Sender#

SettingDefaultWhat it does
From NameSite titleName shown in the From field of coupon emails.
From Email AddressAdmin emailAddress shown in the From field. Leave blank to use the WordPress default.

These values apply only to SmartCouponX emails; WooCommerce’s own emails are not changed.

Templates#

SettingWhat it does
Post-Purchase Email Subject / BodySubject line and body of the post-purchase coupon email.
Review Email Subject / BodySubject line and body of the review coupon email.

Leave a field empty to use the built-in template. Bodies accept basic HTML (the same tags as a post) and are wrapped automatically in the plugin’s responsive HTML layout with your site name in the header and Visit our website / My Account links in the footer.

The registration, birthday, newsletter, referral, cart value and cart item emails use built-in templates that are not editable on the settings page in this version.

Placeholders#

Use these in any subject or body:

PlaceholderReplaced with
{coupon_code}The coupon code in upper case, e.g. POST_AB12CD34EF
{coupon_amount} or {discount_amount}The discount, formatted as 10% or as a price
{expiry_date}The expiry date in your site’s date format
{user_name}The customer’s display name (billing name for post-purchase coupons) or “there”
{site_name}Your site title
{site_url}Your home page URL
{shop_url}Your Shop page URL
{my_account_url}Your My Account page URL

Testing and deliverability#

  1. Enable Debug Mode on the General tab.
  2. Trigger a coupon (for example register a test account with Registration Coupons enabled).
  3. Check WooCommerce > Status > Logs, source smartcouponx, for Coupon email sent or Failed to send coupon email.

If emails are logged as sent but never arrive, your host is not delivering mail. Install an SMTP plugin (for example WP Mail SMTP or FluentSMTP), connect it to a transactional mail service and make sure the From Email Address uses a domain that service is allowed to send from.
