Common Issues
Red notice: “the free Review Next for WooCommerce plugin must be installed and active”#
Symptom: After activating Pro, a red notice appears on every admin screen and no Pro menu items show under Review Dashboard. The Pro License page is under Settings instead.
Cause: The free plugin is not installed, or it is installed but inactive. Pro’s feature modules only start once the free plugin passes the dependency check.
Fix:
- Click the Install the free version now (or Activate the free plugin) button in the notice. It installs or activates the free plugin from WordPress.org in one step.
- If the button is not available to your user role, go to Plugins > Add New, search for Review Next for WooCommerce and install and activate it.
- Reload wp-admin. The notice disappears and Analytics Pro, Pro Settings and Pro License appear under Review Dashboard.
Red notice: “your free Review Next for WooCommerce version (x.x.x) is too old”#
Symptom: A red notice states the free version is too old and names the required minimum.
Cause: The free plugin is active but older than the version Pro needs.
Fix:
- Go to Dashboard > Updates (or Plugins) and update Review Next for WooCommerce to the latest version.
- If no update is offered, check that your site can reach WordPress.org, or download the latest version from the plugin’s WordPress.org page and upload it under Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin (WordPress replaces the old copy).
- Reload wp-admin; the notice goes away once the version check passes.
Load More button is missing, or every review still prints at once#
Symptom: The product page prints all reviews and there is no Load More Reviews button, or the button appears briefly and then hides.
Cause: Either the Pro license is not active, or the free plugin is older than 1.0.7 and lacks the review-list hooks Pro needs, or the product does not have more reviews than one batch.
Fix:
- Check Review Dashboard > Pro License shows an active license.
- Check the free plugin is version 1.0.7 or newer and update it if not.
- Compare the number of approved reviews with the Reviews per “Load More” batch setting: the button is only shown when there are more reviews than one batch.
- If you use a caching plugin, purge the product page.
The reviewer location checkbox does not appear on the review form#
Symptom: The review form has no Share my location checkbox.
Cause: The feature is off, the license is inactive, or the page is not a single product page (Pro only loads its front-end script on single product pages).
Fix:
- Go to Review Dashboard > Pro Settings and make sure Reviewer location is ticked.
- Confirm the license is active under Review Dashboard > Pro License.
- Open a real single product page (not a shop archive or a page with a product block) and reload without cache.
“Could not detect location” shows under the checkbox#
Symptom: The reviewer ticks the box and sees Could not detect location. You can still submit your review.
Cause: The reviewer declined the browser’s location permission, the browser does not support geolocation, the site is served over plain HTTP (modern browsers only allow geolocation on HTTPS), or the browser could not reach api.bigdatacloud.net.
Fix:
- Serve the store over HTTPS.
- Ask the reviewer to allow the location prompt (and check that the browser has not permanently blocked location for your site).
- Nothing else is required: the review can still be submitted without a location.
The view counter never appears#
Symptom: No “Viewed N times in the last 30 days” line, even on popular products.
Cause: Fewer than 5 counted views in the last 30 days, the setting is off, the license is inactive, or you are testing while logged in as a shop manager or administrator (those views are never counted).
Fix:
- Confirm Product view counter is ticked under Pro Settings and the license is active.
- Test from a private browser window or another device while logged out. Each visitor counts once per day, so one person reloading the page will not reach 5.
- Check that your theme calls the standard
woocommerce_before_single_producthook. If it does not, place the[revnextwoopro_counter]shortcode where you want the line.
Analytics Pro shows “Google Charts could not be loaded” or “D3 could not be loaded”#
Symptom: The stat cards show, but the charts stay empty with a message about gstatic.com or d3js.org.
Cause: The administrator’s browser cannot reach the vendor CDN (ad blocker, strict content-security policy, corporate firewall or an offline network).
Fix:
- Allow
www.gstatic.comandd3js.orgin the browser’s blocker or in your site’s Content-Security-Policyscript-src. - Reload the Analytics Pro page.
Analytics numbers look out of date#
Symptom: You just imported reviews or coupons, but the dashboard still shows older totals.
Cause: Aggregates are cached for one hour. Review changes made through WordPress (adding, approving, deleting) flush the cache; bulk database imports and coupon changes do not.
Fix: Wait for the hourly cache to expire, or approve or unapprove any one review to flush the cache immediately.
“Licensing is not configured in this build of Review Next Pro”#
Symptom: The Pro License page shows this warning and has no license field.
Cause: The installed build has no store product ID compiled in (for example an internal development build).
Fix:
- Download the latest
review-next-pro.zipfrom your technoleet.dev account and upload it under Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin to replace the current copy. - If you are the site developer, you can alternatively set the
REVIEW_NEXT_PRO_STOREENGINE_PRODUCT_IDconstant inwp-config.phpor use therevnextwoopro_storeengine_product_idfilter. - Still stuck? Contact support.
License activation fails or says the site limit is reached#
Symptom: Clicking Activate License returns an error.
Cause: The key was typed with extra spaces, every site slot of your plan is already in use (staging copies count), or your server cannot reach technoleet.dev.
Fix:
- Copy the key again from Dashboard > License keys on technoleet.dev and paste it without spaces.
- Deactivate the key on a site you no longer use (from that site’s Pro License page or from your technoleet.dev account).
- Ask your host to confirm outbound HTTPS connections to
technoleet.devare allowed.
