Load More Reviews

What shoppers see#

Instead of printing every review at once, the Reviews tab shows the first batch (5 reviews by default) followed by a Load More Reviews button. Each click appends the next batch to the list. While a batch is loading the button reads Loading…; when there is nothing left it reads All reviews loaded. and is disabled. The button is hidden entirely when the product has no more reviews than one batch.

The free plugin’s Sort by options (Most Recent, Highest Rating, Lowest Rating, Most Voted, With Images/Videos) keep working: changing the sort reloads the first batch in the new order, and Load More continues in that same order.

Why it helps#

  • Product pages with hundreds of reviews load faster, because the HTML and review images for the remaining reviews are only fetched when a shopper asks for them.
  • Reviews are rendered with the free plugin’s own card template, so loaded cards look identical to the first ones, including photos, video, Verified Purchase badges, helpful votes and (with Pro) the reviewer location.

Settings#

SettingWhereDefault
Reviews per “Load More” batchReview Dashboard > Pro Settings5 (allowed range 1 to 50)

The same number is used for the first page and for each batch. Developers can override it with the revnextwoopro_reviews_per_page filter.

How it works under the hood#

Pro sets the free plugin’s revnextwoo_reviews_per_page filter so the free list prints only the first page, then serves later pages through an AJAX endpoint (wp_ajax_revnextwoopro_load_reviews) that uses the free plugin’s revnextwoo_get_review_query_args(), revnextwoo_count_reviews() and revnextwoo_render_review_item() functions. Requests are protected with a nonce and only approved reviews of real products are returned.

On free plugin versions older than 1.0.7 the review list has none of these hooks, so every review is still printed and the Load More button hides itself. Update the free plugin to 1.0.7 or newer.
