Email Alerts
After an automatic audit (daily or after a plugin change), Ability Auditor emails the site admin address when, and only when, there are new High or Critical findings.
What “new” means#
Findings are compared by fingerprint with the previous audit. A problem that was already present last time is not emailed again, so you are not nagged every day about something you already know. Fix it, and the next audit reports it as resolved.
Who receives it#
The address under Settings > General > Administration Email Address. The Settings tab shows the address that will be used. Developers can change or add recipients with the abau_notification_recipients filter.
What the email contains#
- Subject:
[Site name] Ability Auditor: N new high or critical findings. - Which audit found them (the daily audit, or the audit after a plugin install or update).
- Each new finding with its severity, ability name, title, message and fix.
- A count of all findings per severity.
- A link to the full report in wp-admin.
- A reminder that you only get this email for new findings and where to turn it off.
When no email is sent#
- Manual audits from the Run audit button and WP-CLI audits never send email.
- Medium, Low and Info findings never trigger an email.
- When Email alerts is off on the Settings tab.
Email delivery depends on your site’s mail setup. If you never receive alerts, check that WordPress can send email at all (for example with a password-reset email) before suspecting the plugin.
