Renewals, moving sites and expiry

A license has an expiry date and a number of site activations. This article explains how to handle the common situations.

Renewing#

  1. Starting 14 days before the expiry date, a notice appears in the WordPress dashboard reminding you to renew. You can dismiss it; it comes back after a week until you renew.
  2. Open your license dashboard at technoleet.dev and renew the license.
  3. Back in WordPress, go to WooCommerce → Quick View License and click the refresh icon next to Last Checked to pick up the new expiry date straight away. The daily background check picks it up on its own otherwise.

Moving the plugin to another site#

Each activation counts towards the number of sites in your plan, so free up the slot before you retire a site.

  1. On the old site, go to WooCommerce → Quick View License and click Deactivate.
  2. Install the plugin on the new site and activate the same key there.

If you no longer have access to the old site, deactivate it from the license dashboard at technoleet.dev instead.

Staging and local sites#

You can activate the key on a local or staging copy of your store for testing. Each of those activations counts towards your plan, so deactivate the key on a staging site when you are done with it.

When the license expires#

  • The plugin keeps working. The quick view button and modal continue to work for your shoppers exactly as before.
  • No further updates are offered until you renew. The Automatic Update line on the license screen changes to Disabled.
  • Support is not available for an expired license.

Renew before the expiry date rather than after. Running an outdated version of any plugin for a long time is the most common cause of compatibility problems after a WooCommerce update.

Licensing on development builds#

If the license screen shows a warning saying that licensing is not configured on this build, you are running a development copy without a store product ID. This never happens with the zip downloaded from technoleet.dev. Developers can read the Developer reference for the constants and filters involved.
