Common Issues
The Quick view button does not appear#
Symptom: the plugin is active but no button shows in the listings.
Cause: the button is added through WooCommerce’s loop add to cart hook. If that hook never runs, or something cancels it, there is no button.
- Check that WooCommerce is active. Without it the plugin shows a dashboard notice and does nothing.
- Clear every cache: page cache plugins, host-level caches, CDN caches and your browser cache. Cached shop pages were generated before the plugin existed.
- Look at the listing. If the products have no add to cart button at all, your theme or a page builder is using a custom product loop that does not call WooCommerce’s loop add to cart template. Ask the theme or builder author to use
woocommerce_template_loop_add_to_cart()or apply thewoocommerce_loop_add_to_cart_linkfilter. - On a block theme, open the template in the Site Editor and make sure the Product Collection block (or product grid block) contains a Product Button block. The quick view button is attached to it.
- Check your theme’s
functions.phpand custom code snippets for a filter onankpqv_show_buttonreturningfalse, or for code that removeswoocommerce_template_loop_add_to_cartfrom thewoocommerce_after_shop_loop_itemaction. - Switch to a default theme (Storefront or Twenty Twenty-Five) for a moment. If the button appears, the cause is in your theme.
The button appears but opens the product page instead of a modal#
Symptom: clicking the button loads the full product page.
Cause: the button is designed to fall back to the product page when its JavaScript did not run.
- Open the browser’s developer console and reload the page. A JavaScript error from another plugin or the theme can stop every script that follows it.
- If you use a script optimiser (delay, defer, combine or “remove unused JavaScript”), exclude
ankpqv-quick-view,jquery,wc-add-to-cart-variationandwc-add-to-cartfrom it, then clear its cache. - Make sure jQuery is not being removed by a performance plugin. The quick view script depends on it, as does WooCommerce’s variation form.
- Very old browsers without support for the native dialog element also fall back to the product page. This is expected.
The modal looks wrong or unstyled#
Symptom: the modal opens but the layout is broken, the text is unreadable, or the close button is missing.
Cause: a theme rule targeting dialog, .woocommerce or generic buttons is overriding the plugin stylesheet, or the stylesheet was not loaded.
- Check that
quick-view.cssfrom the plugin is loaded (look in the browser’s Network tab). If a CSS optimiser combines files, clear its cache and, if needed, exclude theankpqv-quick-viewhandle. - If the text colour matches the background, your theme defines the Base or Contrast colour presets unusually. Override them on
.ankpqv-modalas shown in Styling the button and modal. - If the thumbnails or close button look like full-width theme buttons, add a more specific rule for
.ankpqv-gallery__thumband.ankpqv-modal__closein your theme’s CSS.
Variations cannot be selected in the modal#
Symptom: the attribute dropdowns are empty, or choosing options never enables the add to cart button.
Cause: WooCommerce’s variation script did not run inside the modal, or a swatch plugin replaced the dropdowns without initialising itself in the modal.
- Confirm the same product works on its own product page. If it does not, the problem is with the product or WooCommerce, not the modal.
- Check the developer console for JavaScript errors.
- If you use an attribute swatch plugin, it may need to initialise on the
ankpqv_quick_view_loadedevent; see Filters and hooks. Ask the swatch plugin author whether they support quick view modals.
Add to cart in the modal sends me to the product page#
Symptom: clicking Add to cart in the modal loads the product page with a WooCommerce notice.
Cause: this is intentional. When WooCommerce rejects the addition (not enough stock, a required option missing, a cart rule from another plugin), the modal sends the shopper to the product page where WooCommerce shows the reason. Fix the underlying reason (stock, required fields) and the modal add to cart will work again.
The cart icon in the header does not update#
Symptom: the item is added (the cart page shows it) but the header count is stale.
Cause: the header cart is not a WooCommerce fragment or Mini Cart block, so it is not refreshed by the added_to_cart event.
- If the header cart is a static theme element, ask the theme author to register it as a cart fragment or use the Mini Cart block.
- If you have disabled WooCommerce cart fragments with a performance plugin, re-enable them on shop and archive pages.
“Sorry, this product could not be loaded.” in the modal#
Symptom: the modal opens but shows the error message and a View product link.
Cause: the AJAX request failed or the product is not viewable.
- Click View product. If the product page itself shows a 404 or a password form, the quick view is correctly refusing to show it (draft, private, hidden, password-protected or hidden out-of-stock products are never shown).
- Check whether a security plugin or firewall is blocking POST requests to
?wc-ajax=ankpqv_quick_view. Allow that endpoint. - Check the server error log for a PHP error from another plugin that hooks into the product page templates; the modal runs the same hooks.
License will not activate#
Symptom: the license screen shows an error after clicking Activate.
- Make sure you pasted the whole key without spaces.
- If the message says the activation limit is reached, deactivate the key on a site you no longer use, from that site’s WooCommerce → Quick View License screen or from your technoleet.dev dashboard.
- If the message says the store could not be reached, your host may block outgoing HTTPS requests. Ask them to allow connections to
technoleet.dev. - If the message says the license has expired, renew it in your dashboard, then click Activate again.
WordPress does not offer updates#
- Go to WooCommerce → Quick View License and check that Status is Active and Automatic Update is Enabled. Renew or re-activate if not.
- Click the refresh icon next to Last Checked to re-verify the license.
- Go to Dashboard → Updates and click Check again.
