FAQ
Where do I get a license key?#
Buy Premium Update Gate at technoleet.dev. The key is shown after checkout and under License keys in your account dashboard.
Does the plugin work without a license?#
Yes. The gate, detector, integrity watch and alerts all work. The license is needed for plugin updates and support.
Can I use one key on a staging site?#
Yes. The key can be activated on local and staging sites as well as production. Each activation counts towards the number of sites in your plan; deactivate the key under Update Gate → License before you retire a site.
Does it slow down updates?#
Inspection runs only for in-scope plugins and only while an update is installing. Typical premium plugins are hashed and scanned in well under a second.
What happens to automatic background updates?#
They are inspected the same way. A held background update is reported as a failed update by WordPress, and the gate sends its own alert. The plugin stays active and maintenance mode is turned off.
A legitimate update was held. What now?#
Open the review, read the findings and the diff, and choose Approve and install. To stop future updates from the same vendor being held, use Approve and trust this vendor, or set the plugin’s override to Never gate under Plugins in scope.
A plugin I rely on hides itself on purpose#
Some white-label tools and hosting platforms hide plugins or must-use plugins deliberately. Dismiss the alert once; dismissed alerts stay quiet when the same condition is seen again.
Does it inspect its own updates?#
Not by default. Premium Update Gate’s releases are verified by its updater (package hash plus the presence of the plugin’s critical files) before the live folder is swapped. Choose Always gate on its row under Plugins in scope to inspect them anyway.
Does it work on multisite?#
Yes. Network-activate it. All screens, including License, are in the Network Admin and the data is network-wide.
Does it prevent all malware?#
No. It inspects the code an update adds or changes, holds packages that match known attack patterns, and detects plugins that hide themselves. Rules are static pattern matching, so code built at runtime in ways the rules do not cover can get past them. Keep your other security measures in place.
What data leaves my site?#
Only license checks and updates (to technoleet.dev), alert emails to the addresses you configure, and the optional webhook. No usage statistics are collected.
