Integration Prompts and MCP Server
The Integration tab#
License Cart → Integration (also reachable from Plugins → Integration) generates a repository-aware prompt you can paste into a coding assistant working inside the plugin you sell. Fill in:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| License Cart server URL | Your site’s URL. The prompt derives the API URL from it. |
| Product slug | Pick from the list of active products. |
| Target plugin name / slug / main file | Identify the plugin being integrated. |
| Integration version | Recorded in the prompt; defaults to the License Cart version. |
Click Generate prompts. Two prompts are produced, each with Copy prompt and Download Markdown buttons:
- Licensed Commercial/Pro Integration instructs the assistant to inspect the repository, adapt the SDK template, add activation, deactivation, status checks, caching, bounded failure grace, settings and notices, backend premium enforcement and license-gated updates, run validation, and build with the plugin’s existing
yarn zipcommand. - Marketplace/Free Integration instructs it to remove the SDK, licensing calls, UI, updater, server contact and premium-only code following the repository’s conventions, keep the free functionality working and tested, and build with the same command.
The tab also shows a credential warning, a post-integration checklist (activation and domain behaviour, backend gating, update gating, syntax checks and tests, build inspection, no credentials in the ZIP) and the list of available product slugs.
The prompts never create or modify package.json, build configuration, scripts, lockfiles or ZIP tooling. They run the target plugin’s existing yarn zip from its repository root and report an exact failure rather than inventing a replacement command.
Read-only MCP server#
developer-tools/mcp-server.js is a Model Context Protocol server that returns the SDK code, integration instructions, both prompts, build instructions and the License Cart version to an MCP-capable assistant. It never reads, edits or runs commands in your repositories.
- Install the runtime (Node.js 18+):
cd /path/to/wp-content/plugins/license-cart/developer-tools
npm install --omit=dev
- Copy the configuration shown under MCP server setup on the Integration tab into your assistant’s MCP configuration:
{
"mcpServers": {
"license-cart": {
"command": "node",
"args": ["/absolute/path/to/license-cart/developer-tools/mcp-server.js"]
}
}
}
Tools: get_license_cart_sdk, get_integration_instructions, get_commercial_integration_prompt, get_marketplace_integration_prompt, get_build_instructions, get_license_cart_version. Prompt tools accept a server URL, product slug, plugin name, plugin slug, plugin main file, integration version and mode; unknown or credential-shaped fields are rejected.
