Cloudflare R2 Backups

What is backed up#

The Backups tab creates private JSON snapshots of the six License Cart tables: products, prices, customers, licenses, updates and webhook logs. Each backup records the plugin and database version, the source site, per-table counts and a checksum. Release ZIP files are not included; they stay on your server and should be covered by your normal file backups.

Backups are written to the backups/ folder of your R2 bucket. Nothing is made public.

Setting up R2#

  1. In Cloudflare open R2 and create a bucket (for example license-cart-storage).
  2. Open Manage R2 API Tokens and create an Account API token with Object Read & Write permission. Copy the Access Key ID and Secret Access Key; Cloudflare shows the secret only once.
  3. In License Cart → Settings fill in R2 Account ID, R2 Bucket Name, R2 Access Key ID and R2 Secret Access Key.
  4. Click Save & Test R2 Connection and wait for the green confirmation.

Creating and restoring#

  • Create Backup Now on the Backups tab takes a consistent database snapshot and uploads it. The table lists each backup with its date, record counts, the current database counts and the difference between them.
  • Restore merges a backup into the live database: matching record IDs are overwritten with the backup values and missing records are inserted. Records created after the backup are not deleted. The restore runs in a transaction and is rolled back if any record fails. You must confirm the dialog before it runs.

Restoring overwrites current values for every record in the backup. Take a fresh backup first if you may need to undo a restore.
