General Settings
The Settings tab has five sections: Policy, Channels, AI & privacy, General and License. Only store managers (users with the manage_woocommerce capability) can change settings. Every change is written to the activity log.
Policy#
The policy engine decides eligibility and amounts from these rules. The AI never does.
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Return window (days) | How long a return is accepted. 0 means no returns are accepted. | 30 |
| Window counts | The window counts from the order’s completion (default), or from delivery when tracking knows the delivery date. If delivery is not known, completion is used. | From completion |
| Returnable order statuses | Order statuses in which a return can be requested. | Completed |
| Excluded categories | Product categories that cannot be returned. | None |
| Excluded products | Product IDs that cannot be returned, separated by commas. | None |
| Sale items | Whether sale items cannot be returned. | Off |
| Reasons that need a photo | Return reasons for which the customer must attach a photo. | Damaged, wrong item |
| Resolutions offered | Refund, store credit and exchange. | All three |
| Shipping | Refund shipping when the whole order is returned. | Off |

| Cancellable order statuses | Statuses in which an order can be cancelled, only while no shipment is tracked. | Pending, on hold, processing |
| Flag customers above | Cases from customers above this count in 90 days are flagged in the queue. They are never blocked. | 3 |
| Return reasons | One per line: the reason code, a pipe character, then the label shown to customers. | Seven default reasons |
| Your written policy | Your policy text. Separate clauses with a blank line. Policy checks cite the clause linked to each rule. | Empty |
Read my policy page#
The AI policy wizard reads a page you choose and suggests rules, each linked to the sentence it came from. Nothing is saved until you tick the rules you agree with and save. Saving also stores the page text as your written policy and links each accepted rule to its clause.
Channels#
Turn each channel on or off. All of the first four are on by default.
- Order-help portal (shortcode)
- “Get help with this order” panel in My Account
- Order-scoped AI assistant
- Inbox assist for staff
- Expose write abilities to MCP (off by default; they only stage proposals)
- Allow approvals through abilities (off by default; not recommended)

The Status block shows which provider receives requests, the last model used, the last error and this month’s requests, tokens and estimated cost. The price table (USD per million tokens) is used to estimate spend. It is pre-filled with October 2026 list prices, so check your provider’s current prices and add a row for any model you use that is not listed.
