Requirements
| Requirement | Minimum | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| WordPress | 7.1 | Ability Gate uses the ability hooks added in 7.1 to stop a call before it runs. Older versions only let plugins watch calls, not block them. |
| PHP | 7.4 | PHP 8.x is supported. |
| Database | MySQL or MariaDB with InnoDB | Rollback and Preview use transactions. Non-InnoDB tables are still restored from the snapshot. |
| WooCommerce | Optional | When active, its product and order tables (HPOS included) are snapshotted and restored like any other data, and its caches are cleaned after a rollback. |
| AI provider | Optional | Connected in Settings > Connectors. Needed only for AI usage budgets. |
| Ability Auditor | Optional | Adds its findings to the risk score. |
| An MCP plugin | Optional | Any plugin that lets agents call abilities, for example the MCP Adapter. Agents can also call abilities over the REST API with an Application Password. |
Ability Gate works on multisite, one site at a time: each site has its own agents, rules, queue, snapshots and audit trail.
