Preview changes
For a held request, Preview changes shows what the action would change before you approve it.
How it works#
- Ability Gate opens a database transaction.
- It runs the action’s real code inside it and records every row it changes.
- It rolls the transaction back, so nothing is kept, and cleans the affected caches.
- The screen shows the result, the row-by-row changes (“Changes it would make”) and any warnings.
While Preview runs, outgoing HTTP requests, emails, new cron events and database schema changes are blocked, and each blocked attempt is listed as a warning.
Preview runs the action’s code. It cannot block direct file writes, or SDK calls that bypass the WordPress HTTP API. That is why it is only available to administrators, only on demand, and never to agents. If you do not trust an ability’s code, reject the request instead of previewing it.
