Export and verify integrity
The Audit trail box on Agent Control > Activity has two tools.
Export#
- Choose a Format: CSV or NDJSON (one JSON object per line).
- Choose a date range (From and To).
- Click Export. The file downloads.
CSV exports escape values that start with =, +, - or @, so they cannot run as formulas when opened in a spreadsheet.
Verify integrity#
Each audit event stores a hash of its own content plus the hash of the event before it. Changing or deleting any event breaks the chain from that point. Click Verify integrity and Ability Gate recomputes the whole chain:
- “Audit trail intact” with the number of events checked, or
- “Audit trail broken at event #N”, the first event that does not match.
The hash chain makes tampering visible. It cannot stop someone with direct database access from changing rows; it tells you that it happened and where. Export the trail regularly and store copies elsewhere if you need proof outside the site.
