Updates Started Elsewhere
With Protect updates started elsewhere (on by default), Update Doctor also takes a snapshot and checks the site when an update is started from the Plugins screen, a bulk update, WP-CLI, another management tool or a WordPress background auto-update. This adds protection only. It never blocks or delays an update.
The check uses a stored baseline from the last 24 hours when there is one. If there is none, the update is only snapshotted, and you can restore the snapshot by hand from the Snapshots screen. Core updates are observed and diagnosed, not restored.
